Vegetabl Garden Layout By Companion Planting

In case you're preparing a vegetable garden layout, one of the most critical factors that you should look into and give some thought to is companion planting. Companion planting is an old and traditional method that is proven to be good for both professional farmers and residential gardeners alike. The rationale is easy to understand: put a couple or more plants together to build a harmonious growing environment where all the plants can help and gain benefit through each other. Through companion planting, you are encouraging biodiversity inside your garden which can provide a heathy environment as a whole for your plants to develop and flourish.

Most notably recognized benefits of companion planting are:

1: Increased harvest produce. Most of the time, vegetables grow better and produce double when they are planted with beneficial companion plants. Others are convinced that even the quality of the taste are aslo improved due to companion planting.

2: Garden pest Control. Plants release natural substances which in turn drive away certain garden pests. If your plants are often attacked by a persistent Garden pest, growing companion plants that repel this pest aids tremendously in organic and natural Garden pest Control.

3: Attracting Beneficial Garden Warriors. If plants give off substances that are generally natural pest-repellant, they may also very well produce natural elements that invite beneficial bugs and animals. Moreover, most of these beneficial insects extend fantastic help in pest control and management and increase pollination in various plants and flowers.

4: Enhance Garden Design. Nature is picturesque merely because plants are not grouped in large areas but are dispersed and has variation within one location. Similar principle applies to gardens as well. If you were able design the plan correctly, a variety of textures, colors, shapes and sizes lend the garden a more balanced and natural appeal.

5: Take Full Advantage of Space. For a garden lover, it can sometimes feels that there are plenty of plants to pick from, but not enough area to dig in. With the help of companion planting, you can easily cut back valuable garden area by strategically placing smaller plants along with taller types.

6: Care for Sensitive Plants. A few plants are weaker, leaner and more likely open to pests and diseases than other plants. Larger, more robust companion plants can serve as defense and shields to protect more sensitive plants from the harsh natural elements such as strong winds, tropical rains and soil erosion.

The key in companion planting is figuring out which plants go harmoniously with what plants, in the same manner with people, plants must be compatible with one another to be able to provide good growing environment. However, while it holds true that plants help and support each other, there are plant groups do not foster aggreeable growing conditions.
