Tour Cape Winelands

When it comes to the Winelands tour in Cape Town tourists have a problem with too many choices. The wine industry in Cape Town is huge. When visitors decide to participate in a wine tour they should be accompanied by a connoisseur in the tourist business.

This is a region not only of the country but of the world where international pedigree wines are produced. From small to enormous farms exist side by side not only competing globally but also against each other to create the best in the world. Constantia, Lanzerac and Nederberg are but a few of the internationally acclaimed names that appear on a Winelands tour list.

The Breede River Valley, the coastal region and the Klein Karoo are the major districts where the majority of fine wines are produced in the Cape. Stellenbosch, Paarl and Constantia belong to the Coastal region which is the most popular tourist attraction. Considered to be the 'mother' of all Cape vineyards, Groot Constantia was founded in 1685 by governor of the Cape Simon van der Stel. It is considered to be a national treasure which lies at the foot of Table Mountain and enjoys the state's protection.

Of the Coastal wine making region, Stellenbosch attracts the most traffic of all. Named after Simon van der Stel, the town boasts a remarkable pedigree. It is also the site of the second largest university in the Cape and is actually known to be a university town because much of the campus is scattered throughout it. The KWV is also situated in Stellenbosch. The KWV is responsible for maintaining international standards for wine production throughout the region and brings together advanced methods of production and better knowledge of superlative viticulture.

Stellenbosch is popular for the parties and fairs it hosts throughout the foreign wine community beyond the regular farm stalls and bazaars that are frequently open to the passing trade and public. Often auctions are held where copious amounts of quality wine gets sold; often attracting the added discriminating palates from everywhere in the world as they are alert to the quality put on show.

Amazing wines, beautiful farms, vibrant vineyards and spectacular views are but a few of the splendid sights to see and take in during a wine tour of the Cape. Without the welcoming and dynamic people that look after it - it would not be the same.
