Time Out In Thailand

Thailand has long been considered an exciting and exotic place for vacationers. This reputation is well deserved, as Thailand is a unique mixture of cultures from all over Southeast Asia. Nowhere else in the world do so many people from so many backgrounds coalesce into a single democratic nation. Because so many different ethnic and cultural groups hold power, the cultural uniqueness of each and every one is largely preserved and persons vacationing in different parts of Thailand will have completely unique experiences. There's more to see in Thailand than just Bangkok, and if you choose to travel to many different cities in Thailand it will be almost like visiting many countries thanks to the great diversity of culture.

Thailand is a constitutional monarchy similar in fashion to that of the United Kingdom. The King is highly revered, but he holds little actual political power. The care and respect which Thai grant to their king is reflected in the care and respect they offer one another and tourists. The Thai are a very friendly and polite people with distinct understandings as to what constitutes proper behaviour. It is wise for visitors to read up on traditional Thai manners as they are the best way to avoid offending the locals and ensuring that the best possible service and friendship is preserved. Many Thai speak English and are quite friendly to tourists. They are willing to help visitors understand the diverse arrays of Thai culture and also point out the best places to eat, sleep and find entertainment. The great variety brought on by so many cultures also means that Thai cuisine is uniquely delicious and visitors are encouraged to try many sorts of traditional dishes.

One of the biggest draws in Thailand is the national sport of Muay Thai, also known as Thai kickboxing. This sport is known for the way it demonstrates both finesse and brutality and Thai kickboxing champions are hailed as national heroes. Thailand is also home to a number of football teams that compete at an international level comparable to what is seen in the UK or EU. Thailand is also home to vast tracts of unspoiled natural beauty in the north. Steep hills graced by large rivers are surrounded by dense jungle filled with native animals. These regions have only recently opened to tourists but are now a hot spot for those interested in eco-tourism. The jungles in northern Thailand are unlike those found anywhere else in the world and contain many rare and endangered species.
