Take The Story Bridge Adventure Climb
The Story Bridge, in Brisbane, links the inner city of Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point. It gets its name from John Douglas Story, who was a prominent public servant from 1906-1920. The Story Bridge was originally built to divert traffic away from the central business district.
An experience you will not soon forget you will see a breathtaking 360 degree view of Brisbane from 80 meters high. You will be able to look down upon the Brisbane River and all the way out to Moreton Bay and the islands it contains.
The 80 metre high climb above the Brisbane River takes about two and a half hours and included commentary from the climb leader on the history of the bridge, Brisbane and local landmarks. The views stretch from the Glass House Mountains in the north to Brisbane's Moreton Bay and Islands down to the Gold Coast region. The Story Bridge Adventure Climb is open all week and has climbs available throughout the day, twilight and night to all people over 10 years old and over 130 cm high.
The top of Story Bridge has also become a very popular place to propose. Since the opening of the tours in 2005 there have been an average of 120 couples signing up each each for Valentines Day climbs, over 500 proposals and 2 wedding ceremonies.
A fun experience for the whole family, make sure that you bring your camera, as this unique bridge is only one of three in the entire world. Two and a half hours of interesting facts and history about the bridge and the city, coupled with a climb to one of the most unique, spectacular views you can imagine. The Story Bridge Adventure Climb in Brisbane is one attraction you won't want to pass up while staying in this beautiful vacation destination.
