There is a wonderful and ancient seaside resort at the tip of Western England named St. Ives.It boasts a lovely crescent like bay area that has sandy beaches a plenty. It also has the enviable title of cleanest sea water in the West of Europe.

St. Ives is all that you would desire in an ancient seaside resort. Its superb sandy beaches stretch for miles around the coast. Some of the better known are Porthminster, Porthgwidden and Porthmeor. The town presents tourists with a wide choice of interesting gift shops, craft stores and interesting museums and art galleries. Worthy of mention also is the renowned Cornish pasty!

There is a goodly selection of fascinating craft stores and museums plus art galleries in and around the town. It is said that in days of yore a godly woman by the name of St Ia journeyed from Ireland to Cornwall to evangelise the natives. Since she was a little hesitant about the proposed trip overseas, she decided to pray to God.

Tourists who plan to stay for several days in St Ives will have the opportunity to seek out many of the attractions that are beyond the city walls as it were. There is a popular theme park called the Flambard's Experience which has all the fun of the fair, booths, roller coasters et al, and visitors can wander through the old cottages and courtyards some of which are very ancient indeed.

The well-known Sloop Inn is worthy of a visit, and is fronted by the local museum called the Tate around which tiny craft shops congregate selling various types of handcrafted items especially beechwood and stained-glass products to eager buyers.

There is a wide choice of accommodation in St Ives; bed and breakfast cottage accommodation, rental cottages, and luxury hotels and apartments. Being Cornish and Celtic, there are all sorts of festivals throughout the season too; For instance if you happen to be there in the summer months the Midsummer Eve Bonfire is a must see event and there is the choosing of the Lord Mayor ceremony and Hurling the Silver Ball (a quaint tradition) to enjoy amongst many others.

St Ives Cornwall is well provided for in the area of public transport. This easy to find town has railway coach and bus links that are comfortable and reliable. Wherever one travels from a cordial Cornish welcome is a certainty and visitors will go back for sure with delightful memories of this outstanding place that is St Ives Cornwall.
