Movin Out Show

The musical Movin Out is a popular jukebox musical that features numerous songs that had been sung by Billy Joel. This musical has been conceived by Twyla Tharp. The story of the musical revolves round the generation of the American youth that grows up on the Long Island during the sixties time period and also their experiences with the Vietnam War.
All the main characters that are included in the respective musical have been drawn from those who had appeared in the various Joel tunes: high school sweethearts named Brenda and Eddie (Scenes that have been performed in an Italian Restaurant), James (James) and Judy (Why Judy Why). This show is quite unusual especially as compared to the traditional musicals owing to the fact that all the series of the dances are kind of linked by a thin plot. None of the dancers included in the musical sing any songs. As for the vocals they have been performed by a pianist with the help of a very talented music band. Both of the mentioned parties are suspended on a platform that is above the stage. The dancers had enacted the narrative sans dialogue. This had been the highlight of the show that had been in the essence a rock ballet.
There had been twenty-eight previews. After the first twenty eight reviews the Broadway production had been directed and had been choreographed by Tharp. It had opened on the very first time on the 24th of October in the year 2002 at the venue of the Richard Rodgers Theatre. There this show had run for a little more than thirteen hundred performances. The cast of this musical included several talented actors, such as the likes of Michael Cavanaugh, Wade Preston, Elizabeth Parkinson and James Fox. The remaining cast included John Selya, Keith Roberts, Henry Haid and Elizabeth Parkinson. Last but not the least Ashley Tuttle, Benjamin Bowman and Scott Wise are also a part of this production.
The very first National Tour of Movin Out that had run for almost three years had made its opening for the very first time on the 27th of January in the year 2004. It had played for almost three years and had given its last performance on the 21st of January in the year 2007. All in all it had given almost eleven hundred performances. This tour had opened to some exceptional reviews not only fro the audience but also fro the critics. In fact it had been so popular that all its shows had been full houses all across the United States.

It also had a popular stint in Canada in the month of December in the year 2005. It had also featured several dancers from all across from the original Broadway production who had kept coming and going as their individual schedules allowed. Darren Holden had been the primary Piano Man for the entire run of the Tour.
