This will also give you an opportunity to go sight seeing at your own leisure. For small distances, it would be better you just take a walk, this will also be a good exercise.

Another thing that you can do is to actually map out your route when traveling. This will lower the cost since you will be able to use the easiest way to go to a place. With a road map in hand (essential for any tourist) and a few tips locals, you will surely get to where you want to go.

Another thing you need to worry about is accommodations. But luckily, you will be able to find affordable accommodations in any city in Australia. If you are going in a vacation package, then this will be no problem, since everything is already paid for. In case you are not on a package, here's a useful tip: hotel rates are much cheaper in the suburbs than in the major hotels in the city. And these don't have an inferior service either. Another useful tip is to choose a hotel that is near restaurants and malls for easier access.


During your stay in the hotel, you can still cut down costs by not calling up too many room services. Even if you are on a package, additional services are likely to incur extra charges. If you are really that hungry, you can simply get out of the hotel and eat at a nearby food joint, which is likely to e priced lower than room service.

And of course, what is a vacation without sightseeing. Depending on the city that you are in, you can either ride a tour bus for free or for a minimal fee. Also, instead of going for the high class (and high priced) places frequently visited by other tourists, you can explore Australia more by actually looking for cheaper tourist destinations. And you will find that this is actually very fun.
