Keane Tickets Finding Perfect Harmony On Stage

The guys of Keane found perfect harmony in their latest set, aptly naming the result Perfect Symmetry. "I hope you can hear that it was fun on the record," drummer Richard Hughes said during an interview with LiveDaily. "From [album opener] 'Spiraling,' with us going 'Woo' to the weird percussion loops, it was a lot of fun. We really did have the time of our lives making the record. Lyrically, it's pretty dark and depressing, but it definitely was a fun process, enormously fun." The balance was found via extra guitar use, something the boys hailing from the small city of Battle in East Sussex, England, say was initially something they struggled with. The result was the lick "Perfect Symmetry," which in turn earned itself the main title.

"I think naming the album Perfect Symmetry was partly to point people in the direction of what is the best song we've ever recorded," Tim Rice-Oxley said to LiveDaily. "That song has themes about the way the world is going. There's a lot about that on the album. It's pretty representative of the overall theme of the album, I think." The guys finished up their last States run in May and plan on running through Canada until late September, go online for your Keane tickets quickly!

Now the trio of English boppers are traveling the world pouring out their recent effort to the world - from Japan to firsts in South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore, after hitting up Dubai and Beirut. "The Beirut [performance] was particularly memorable," says Tom Rice-Oxley via their website, "just 'cause of the setting and beaches there was such a young, vibrant crowd. It felt quite emotional, especially singing songs like "Perfect Symmetry" in the context of a place that's had its ups and downs, with lots of people together, all harmonious and happy. I think all of us felt quite touched by that particular moment. It was definitely one of the most memorable shows we've done in this last year and a half."

Following performances at the V Festival, the guys move briefly through Oregon and Washington in early September before swimming through Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta through the fall. "[Touring in the States] is probably what British bands dream of doing the most - getting on a tour bus and driving from city to city in America. It's the best thing," Rice-Oxley finishes with LiveDaily.

Keane originally formed as a college cover band in the late '90s with the childhood friends Tom Chaplin, Richard Hughes and Tim Rice-Oxley. The group toured until recording their own music within the next year, though it wasn't until 2002 that Fierce Panda Records signed the group and released the single Everybody's Changing, a UK radio favorite that earned them major label signage with Island Records. This is the Last Time was the first single followed by the debut full length Hopes and Fears. The single "Somewhere Only We Know" made them international stars with two Brit Awards and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. They opened for U2's tour that year (2005) and revealed Under the Iron Sea in 2006.
