The Florence main train station is known as the Stazione Centrale or Stazione Santa Maria Novella. It is named for a nearby Fourteenth and Fifteenth Century Church on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Very close by is the Via dei Tornabuoni, Florence's finest shopping street and believe me, there's a lot of competition in this lovely city. But if you are looking for a different sort of shopping experience you will want to visit the the "Straw Market", known as "Il Porcellino" (The Little Pig) where local artisans display their wares including fine leather. For example, their top of the line Master Room goes for 1000 Euros a night, which works out to well over $1300. You do get a buffet breakfast, organic tea and coffee and lots, lots more.
