Getting The Best Out Of Mauritius Hotels And More

Mauritius: A gem located in the south-western Indian Ocean, this island nation is every traveler's dream of a tropical paradise. Almost completely surrounded by coral reefs, its white sand beaches are renowned throughout the world.

If you are planning a trip to this enchanting island getaway, make sure you book your accommodations ahead of time. Go online and log on to Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority to find the best choices and prices. Take note that flights depart from Africa, Australia, Europe and Asia.

The best weather conditions to take a vacation are the warm and dry winter months, May through November, though you may also stay during December through April, which is the hot and rainy summer season. If you are planning to come in June through September, bring warm clothing as it tends to cool in the evenings.

Brush up on your French, but you need not worry too much as English is also known well enough.
Most importantly, do not forget your passport and return ticket. A visitor's visa is granted upon arrival, and is good for two weeks to one month. Also, bring you traveler's checks and/or credit cards. Have your cash converted to Mauritian Rupee, the official currency.

Once you arrive, why not indulge in a helicopter ride and sightsee above the island and the surrounding coral reefs. Upon touchdown, forget renting a car. Getting around by taxi is easier as it might be difficult to adjust to left-side driving in Mauritius.

In choosing the best Mauritius hotels, select the kind of accommodations you are comfortable with. Luxury hotels are the most popular among tourists, but bungalows are also fashionable and cozy. Explore other options. Hotels are grouped by region: North, South, East, West or Center. Each area has its own interesting feature that differentiates it from others.

If you love the beach choose a sea-side resort for easy access to the ocean and its great sweeping views at sunrise and sunset. The north and east coasts of the country are especially breathtaking.

If your budget cannot allow for 5-star luxury hotels, then you might opt for economical and still first-rate hotels in Grand Baie. Conveniently located at the heart of the Mauritius' tourist center, you can easily set out for the best shopping, dine in restaurants and enjoy clubbing at night. For avid golfers, a lot of hotels such as Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort and Belle Mare Plage boast of 18-hole championship golf courses.

Many Mauritius hotels feature windsurfing, kayaking equipment for their guests. For those who prefer less arduous activities, some hotels also offer excursions in glass-bottom and semi-submersible boats. For a more 20000-Leagues-Under-the-Sea experience, there are also underwater sight-seeing expeditions using bubble-helmet suits available at Grand Baie reef.

Surfing enthusiasts will love the area around Tamarin Hotel. It has perfect surfing conditions from June to August. Diving, on the other hand is best done around Flic en Flac on the west coast. And of course, snorkeling; most major hotels from the Grand Baie beach area offer over-the-side boat trips for this popular water hobby.
