Floridian Swindled By The Tropical Auto Group Of Miami

I recently learned that Tony Jacobs, a resident of Plantation, Florida has been cheated by the Tropical Auto Group of Miami, Florida, a car dealership located at 8880 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL 33138-3343 Phone: 1-866-791-4531.

Mr. Jacobs purchased a Chevrolet Express Van 2008,as a Certified Used Van from Tropical Chevrolet. Mr. Jacobs was informed that the car was a GM certified used vehicle, and thus had gone through a rigorous 117 point inspection process, which insured that the vehicle was in good working order. The Tropical Chevrolet web site went so far as to describe vehicles passing this inspection as "worry free."

But, as Mr. Jacobs learned from the experience, such guarantees are not 100% trustworthy. Not two days afte he purchased the van, he found that the transmission was not working properly. While the Tropical Auto Group claimed they were selling a van that had passed a rigorous 117 point inspection, which all GM certified used vehicles must go through, within three days after the
purchase, Mr. Jacobs discovered that the gear shift wasn't working properly, and the brakes were also not in proper working order, and it would cost thousands of dollars to repiar the two items.

So Mr. Jacobs took the van back to the shop. The company then acknowledged that the transmission was faulty; however, they stated that their transmission technician woul be out of town for 1-2 months. Mr. Jacobs subsequently called the owner, Ian Wildstein but his phone calls were not returned; and it seemed Mr. Wildstein didnt care about the situation.

Mr. Jacobs was very upset about being cheated and mistreated by the company. "When they sell a certified car/van," he noted, "it means that the vehicle was checked out by knowledgeable technicians who have made sure that there are no problems with the vehicle. That wasn't the case here. They lied to me when they told me the van was in working order. Then, to add insult to injury, the supervisor Mark Diaz made fun of me and humiliated me in public. My advice to anyone buying a new or used van is to look elsewhere," he added.
