Boracay An Island Paradise
Beaches, partying non-stop, beautiful bodies and ultra-relaxed atmosphere. That's what Boracay is all about. This is the Philippines' answer to Indonesia's Bali and Thailand's Phucket. The bone-shaped island of Boracay is located in the Western Visayas, at the northwest tip of Panay. A plane trip from Manila will take about thirty to forty-five minutes.
Its laid-back atmosphere, balmy weather, powdery white sand, warm waters and glorious sunsets are known the world over. The island is also a haven for water sports enthusiasts. You can go kite-surfing, sailing, banana-boat riding, snorkeling and scuba diving.
So, about its beaches. Boracay has so many. Tourists from the world over truly enjoy what the beaches have to offer. You can go to Diniwid Beach, Balinghai Beach, White Beach and a number of other beaches. Plus, if you really want to get away from the madding crowd, you can hire a motorized boat to bring you to another nearby island.
Other attractions you might want to enjoy would be the bats at Yapak, or the Dead Forest. Both give an eerie (and to some) and exciting feeling when hundreds and even thousands of bats fly over your head and when you see the shadows cast by the dead trees. For exhilarating views of the island from the top, try the climb up Mount Luho which stands some 100 meters above sea level.
For family oriented activities, you can try the butterfly garden at Bolabog Beach. Kingfisher's Farm features a fish farm that raises tilapia. You can try your hand at catching your meal. Boracay Rock and Willy's Rock are fascinating rock formations. The surrounding beach is also great for picking shells and looking at starfish.
The fun does not stop during the day. When nighttime falls, the island pulsates with a different life. The lighted and intricately sculpted sandcastles signal the start of the partying. You can try your hand at fire dancing, or if that would be too hard for you, you can do the regular kind of dancing.
