Balinese Interior Design

Balinese homes generally utilise local produce to enhance their interiors and to create an instantly recognisable and distinct Asian look. Much of the interiors in these types of homes are created using local woods such as bamboo and rattan.

Furniture is generally designed to be quite low and close to the floor. Wonderfully and elaborately carved wooden furniture is a staple of Balinese interior design and often reflects the local myths and sagas with representations of fabled beasts and local fauna. Often statues of local Balinese gods and the more well-known representations of Buddha can be found in the homes of Bali. Gods such as Ku, the hog war god and the peace god are all common statues in the traditional Balinese house.
