Motorcycling is a hobby, a sport, and a passion. Thousands of people from all over the world gather at various locations throughout the year to celebrate and have fun motorcycling.

Since the beginning of motorcycling events and rallies motorcycles have continued to evolve. India was the most popular and well-known manufacturer of the bikes before World War I.

However, after the war Harley Davidson rose in prestige to take their position as the top manufacturer of motorcycles. Harley Davidson revolutionized the world of motorcycles.

As Japan has modernized and developed its technology it soon became a top competitor in the motorcycle industry. Currently Japanese brands Kawasaki, Honda, and Yamaha are very popular.

In spite of this Harley Davidson still symbolizes the motorcycle world and their bikes are considered the classic favorites. The image of riding a motorcycle, particularly a Harley Davidson, is one of extreme cool and freedom.

Since its creation the motorcycle has evolved to become a functional, efficient, and stylish way to travel. Today the enthusiasm surrounding motorcycles has influences hundreds of thousands throughout the world.

Every year these motorcycle lovers travel around the world to be a part of the rallies and view some of the most famous and fancy motorcycles of all time. These gatherings provide opportunities for motorcycle lovers to feel a sense of companionship as they share stories and discuss the latest motorcycle model.

There are five main bike rallies that motorcycle fans will attend if there is any way possible. The first is the Daytona Beach Bike Week.

This bike rally is held in Daytona Beach, Florida and is one of the more widely known bike rallies. Throughout the week there are various competitions held.

These competitions are strict, but embody good humor and rivalry. For the most part, these competitions are very healthy.

One of the main events is a three mile course stretching between the town and the beach. As the rally is located on the beach, there is a great supply of delicious seafood.

Even though this event is titled a 'Bike Week' it actually lasts for ten days. This event draws hundreds of thousands of bikers.

A second popular motorcycle event is the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This is the most popular motorcycle rally in the world.

This rally takes place in Sturgis, South Dakota yearly in August. This event has a long history and dates from the late 1930s.


The Sturgis Bike Rally brings celebrities, the top bike builders, and hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists. There are many different events available for entertainment and education.

The third top motorcycle rally is Laconia Motorcycle Week. This rally is held in Laconia, New Hampshire.

This rally is the oldest in the history of the United States beginning in 1916. This event is usually held on Father's Day weekend in June.

The fourth large motorcycle rally is called the Americade. The Americade rally is a touring event that may be one of the largest touring rallies in the world.

This event is also held in June, but is centered in Lake George Village, New York. This event hosts events for every member of the family.

The last major rally is called Bikes, Blues, and BBQ. This rally is held in September or October and is one of the last events before winter sets in.

Bikes, Blues, and BBQ is held in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This event is fairly new, but has become very popular very quickly.

Even though this event began in 2000, it already draws over three hundred and fifty thousand people. This event features great food, music, and the top bikes from around the world.

This event includes competitions and rides around the Ozark Mountain area. There is beautiful scenery and opportunities in this college town.

This event is very family friendly and draws a larger crowd every year. The center of this event is located on Dickson Street which is bordered with bikes throughout the event.

Other competitions include a barbeque cook-off and poker. The events had an overwhelming sense of brotherhood and friendship associated with them.

These are great events to attend simply to have fun with family and friends by enjoying a day on the town and appreciating the history of motorcycling.
