The Nutty Professor: Jerry's craziest and most self-centered comedy casts him as chipmunk-faced college professor who does Jekyll-and-Hyde like changes, and changes into swaggering Buddy Love whom some have defined as a Dean Martin character. The movie is more fascinating than funny. Lewis buffs consideration of this as his masterpiece work. The Muse: Brooks plays a Hollywood screenwriter who's informed that he's out of touch until he hooks up with a genuine muse Rock, a capricious lady whose performing methods are unorthodox at best. As with tons of Brooks' films, the parts are better than the entire thing, although his gibes at Hollywood are valuable, and some of the cameo appearances which we come observe are extremely funny. The dubbing here is normally a negative, yet in a lark like this it seriously doesn't matter. The movie is basically a nonstop action film showcasing Chan's martial arts skills. Agnes of God: A youthful nun evidently became pregnant, then killed the baby in the cloistered environment of a convent. The court assigned psychiatrist finds no simple answers. Upsetting, not unconditionally pleasing, although electrified by 3 brilliant performances, and beautifully photographed by Sven Nykvist. Cast includes Jane Fonda, Anne Bancroft, Meg Tilly, Anne Pitoniak, Winston Reckert, and Gratien Gelinas. (98 minutes, 1985)
